Should I Buy The Sims 3 for PC?

I have an Xbox 360 and a laptop but my Xbox has the red ring and many people say that the Sims 3 is better on the PC anyway. Should I buy the Sims 3 for my laptop or wait until my Xbox is fixed? I am asking this because I have a HP laptop and I highly doubt that it would not be able to handle the Sims 3 but just to make sure I need to know if it will be a hindrance to my laptop's performance.
