How do you turn off a bathroom exhaust fan timer for good?

Our bathroom has a timer for the exhaust, and before, it used to stay off all the time unless we turn the exhaust on with the switch. But my brothers friend messed with the timer and now it turns the exhaust on randomly. How are you supposed to turn it off permanently again??
